Vira Vallee (Potyekhina) - Biography

Vira Vallee (Potyekhina) is PhD in Economics. Master in Law (Kyiv National University of Economics, Kyiv, Ukraine); Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland (College Park, Maryland, USA).

From 2003 – 2007, Vira was a postgraduate student at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv). During 2000 – 2004, Ms. Vallee worked at the Russian-Ukrainian Legal Group, Trade Mission of the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA, U.S. Court of Federal Claims and U.S.-Ukraine Foundation (Washington D.C., USA).

During 2003 – 2005, Vira worked as an Associate at the leading Ukrainian and international law firms. In 2005 – 2006, she was a Legal Advisor at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) (World Bank Group). In 2006 – 2011, Ms. Vallee held a position of the Counsel at Philip Morris Ukraine.

Her current research covers intellectual property and competition law.

Author of the books «Intellectual Property» (Kyiv, 2008), «Intellectual Property Law Desk Reference» (Kyiv, 2009), «Heritage of James I and Queen Anne of England: Intellectual Property Protection in Time and Space» and «Intellectual Property Law Paradox» (Kyiv, 2010). Has more than 30 publications.
